Hub Pages And Squidoo: Valuable Search Engine Positioning Tools

The world wide web is full of social networking blogspots and communities, but two of the top out there are Hub Pages and Squidoo. Both of these social Journal networks seem to have an imbalanced benefit when it comes to ranking favorably with the search engines. Along with Word Press, Ezine Articles, and of course Google Blogger, these two communities can get indexed almost immediately. The issue is not if they are effective forms of advertising but rather, which one lands the most damaging thump?

Hub Pages is a community for writers, bloggers, or anyone wanting to share something exciting with the printed word. Your blogs at Hub Pages are recognized as hubs. You can pick from unique modules to improve the appearance and originality of your hubs. Hub Pages allows you to insert your adsense, amazon, and Ebay ID to you hubs to make income from anyone who clicks or buys from your links. You can also add keywords to your hubs to make it simpler for the search engines to find you.

Squidoo is also a community for authors and very similar to Hubpages. The key difference between the two is that Squidoo refers to its websites as lens. Just like Hub Pages, you can put up unlimited lens on any topic while making additional income from adsense, amazon, and Ebay.

Squidoo is very Google responsive and permits you to add up to 40 keywords to your lens to enhance your search engine traffic. As you can witness, these two powerhouse, high pr social communities share many similar characteristics; So what are the dissimilarities?

The differences commence with the revenue from your income modules. Squidoo has a shared earning policy which shares the entire earnings between the whole Squidoo community depending on the position of your lens. The higher your lens rank, the bigger portion of the income you collect. Hub Pages on the other hand allows you to hold 100% of your profit from adsense, amazon, and Ebay.

Another difference are the guidelines and policies. Hub pages is very strict on self endorsement or over promotion of affiliate products. They will close your account quickly if your intent are to only provide content for the exclusive purpose of spamming. Squidoo also discourages spammers, but they are more inviting to internet marketers who are interested in creating lens to promote their affiliate products or programs. I guess you can say that Squidoo gives you a wider freedom of speech. Hub Pages additionally does not allow adult content.

Squidoo has recently stiffen their policies on the types of lens that they will publish. Examples of lens that use to be accepted that are no longer suitable are: Lenses on grown-up content, medicinal miracle cures, and lenses with more than 9 links to the same web page. If you can accomplish giant squid standing (50 lenses) than these regulations may be waived.

Both Squidoo and Hub Pages present a place for like minded folks to bring their visions, ideas, products or artistic views to the World Wide Web. The question of which one packs the most effective punch in my estimation, can only be left up to each individual. I personally use both. Since both communities are free to join and free to interact, I find it that it makes sense not to discriminate. The decision between one over the other would be the equivalent of leaving cash on the table.

Hub Pages and Squidoo are great websites for getting traffic and increasing your search engine positioning. For more info on ranking with search engines, you can go to organic seo.

Improve Your Web Site To Achieve Top Search Rankings

Starting any SEO campaign with anything other than keyword research is a waste of time. To be truly successful with SEO you must begin with a well researched keyword strategy. Once you’ve identified the most important keywords for your campaign, the next step is to optimize web pages for top rankings. I’ve discovered a number of techniques that work especially well for on page optimization.

There are a number of factors to consider for purposes of on page optimization. The most important factors include meta tags, load speed, and URLs. Although some of these may seem obvious to those of you who have spent just a little time learning about search engine optimization, individuals often address these important areas incorrectly.

Meta tags are important to web site rankings because they provide some basic information to search engine spiders. Properly formatted meta tags go a long way towards enhancing search engine rankings. My research as shows that meta tags by themselves cannot radically improve rankings. It is my belief that meta tags may be used to verify other aspects of your website and are important for getting users to click through from search engine results.

Meta tags should have a title tag which has your most important keywords and contains no more than 60 characters. This is the number of characters that can be displayed on Google search results. Your description tag which is also displayed after a user does a search engine query, should be no more than 150 characters. This tag is most effective when mentioning your keywords two times.

The final meta tag of any importance is the keyword tag. This web site tag is supposed to include your most important keywords only. Unfortunately, most web sites are using this tag incorrectly and it could be hurting their rankings. Keywords are only valid if some of them are found somewhere on your website. Additionally, you only want to include about a dozen keywords per page. Any more than that and it could be considered keyword stuffing. Focus on your most important keywords and place them in the keywords tag.

Once you have your meta tags within your web page code it is important to focus on the next on page optimization factor. The load time of your web pages matter a great deal to Google and other search engines. Not only does your web page need to be properly formatted but it needs to load quickly. Fast loading web sites mean a better user experience. Search engines like Google reward you for providing the right information quickly to web site browsers. Keep load times to a minimum and continually work to improve the speed at which your site loads.

The last but certainly one of the most important factors we are going to discuss is URL structure. It is true that having your keyword in the URL helps but it is not the only or the most heavily weighed optimization factor by Google. There are plenty of examples of sites that include the keyword in the URL but don’t rank as well as their competitors. If you can purchase a URL that has your keyword in it though, consider it advantageous. If you are unable to do so, consider adding a folder or page to your site that includes the keyword you want to optimize your site for. A good example would be www.sample.com/keyword. By doing so you are placing your keyword close to the root and giving it more value. Also consider a sub domain strategy.

When thinking about SEO and embarking on your first optimization campaign, start with on page optimization. Focus your efforts on developing a web site that is easily searched and ranked with the help of the on page optimization factors we discussed. The topics we discussed including Meta tags, website load times and URL are among the most important on page optimization factors you can apply to improve your rankings.

SEO Marketing Defined

When you are ready to make an investment of time, money and effort into search engine optimization (SEO) it’s important that you set realistic goals about the results that you are expecting to see. Many people know that SEO can be extremely beneficial for an online business, however they don’t quite understand how the process works, or what they should expect.

Search marketing campaigns include many different components and pieces. The most successful ones combine several different strategies into one overarching campaign. However, despite the prevalence of multiple tactics and plans, what remains at the heart of SEO is still the correct usage and research of keywords.

In case there are is any lingering confusion about what a keyword is, it’s merely the search query that somebody types into a search engine in order to find what they are seeking. As the owner of a website, it’s your job to use the correct keywords and key phrases within your website in order to target your market as effectively as possible. It all begins with research, where you can find hidden gems and long-tail keywords, which are just keyword phrases with a minimum of three words. By using these longer, more targeted phrases, you will have a better chance of being ranked as highly as possible.

After creating a researched list of keywords and phrases, SEO marketing is about using those keywords in many different ways. The proper inclusion of them across a spectrum of different areas will enable your site to soar up the search engine rankings, seeing much more traffic and many more prospects and customers.

The usage of keywords can begin all the way with the beginning of website development. This is when you can pick a domain name that includes your best keyword, giving you an automatic chance at being highly associated with that phrase. From there, you can create all of your individual URLs and pages with additional keywords and of course, the keywords have to be included within the page content on all of your website pages.

However, many people have gone about this keyword inclusion in the entirely wrong manner. Most people new to the field follow a practice of keyword stuffing, or the excessive use of keywords in content that provides no real value to people who visit your site. This path will not only turn off site visitors, but could also result in you being penalized in the search engines. Therefore, it is clearly something to be avoided at all costs.

All of the above steps of keyword inclusion were different pieces of onsite optimization. There is also another field of SEO marketing, offsite optimization, that is equally important to your success. Mainly, offsite SEO is about building up inbound links to your website, so that you can increase your site’s visibility, exposure and credibility. The right kinds of links can make all the difference between an average ranking and a fantastic one.

Before getting started with your own SEO marketing efforts, it’s important to at least have a baseline of understanding for what it is, what the steps are and how it’s done. From there, you can develop realistic expectations that will help guide your processes and your thoughts. Remember, SEO is an amazingly powerful tool to have for your website, but it doesn’t promise you instant, number 1 rankings. It’s a journey, and it entails hard work at every step.

Why Search Engine Optimization Is Necessary

In this edition of OK to Make Money Online, let us take a look at Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO seems to be the hotbed of conversation on the net these days. It is really simple and yet seems to have such a mystique about it. Why? It is really not an art.

The problem for Google is it has only started using natural language, so it has to resort to taking your article text apart and trying to figure out what your site’s main subject or topic is. When this is done, it can send you the most appropriate ads to be displayed on your site. However, it may not be the best words to drive traffic your direction, and isn’t this the point?

Take most sites: they are all over the place with the subject matter. One article may be about shoes, another about clothes and on the same site cooking utensils. So how does Google rate the site and what ads does it display? We have to help Google out here and in response, they will rate your page higher in page ranking.

Now that you have looked over your site, what is you main topic? If your website were a dog, would it be a purebred pedigree or a mutt? If it’s a pedigree, read on. If it is a mutt, we have to fix it now. Start by breaking the site into major topics like your house, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, etc.

Now for each major topic, you will need to create a blog or website. However, first you need to research the keyword you will use for each of your major topics. This is where Google’s Keyword Tool (under Adwords) comes in to play. When you use this tool properly, it will help you to focus on a proper keyword or long tail keyword.

After you have completed your research and have determined the best keyword, it is time to find a URL that will contain your new keyword. Go to Blogger and see what can find. When you find a URL with your keyword then start using your keyword on every page and in every article, including the Privacy Page and the About Page. When you have completed your first website, go on to the next and do the same till you have covered all your categories or keywords.

Take any articles that were already on your old site and rewrite them using the appropriate keyword for the article. Make sure you use your keyword or phrase in the title, opening paragraph, body and closing paragraph. Copy that article to the new website and publish it.

Does your site contain pictures? Good! Make sure that every picture has a sentence or caption that includes your keyword.

However don’t overdo it! Overuse was used by Black Hats to trick Google. Google now detects if you overuse a keyword, and will flag you for keyword stuffing.

Let’s review: make sure your sites are narrow in scope but not too narrow, research your subject, pick the best keyword or key phrase, use your keyword in everyplace you can, but don’t overuse in articles. This will help you make money online.
